5-Hit Blitz by MSL Dayton's Piper Saturday, August 25th , 2063 After a 5-hit effort to lead MSL Dayton's 11-5 victory over the MSL Cape Coral Hurricanes, shortstop Jerry Piper told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the M3L Mexican Summer League-level is really something special." The 19-year-old player earned his accolades at MSL Cape Coral Ballpark with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Hurricanes. "His swing is getting there," said Dirty Reds skipper Gabriel Rentería, who spoke glowingly of Piper after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Jerry did that to perfection." Jerry Piper grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Alex Koman in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
