Bang-up Game: Cruz Slams 3 Homers Saturday, July 29th , 2062 MSL Nova Scotia Leviathan second baseman Vicente Cruz put on a dazzling display of power at MSL Nova Scotia Ballpark against the MSL D.C. Divided. In the 5-4 Leviathan victory, Cruz penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," MSL D.C. manager Wessel Rosas said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 18-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Cruz said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Vicente Cruz grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Balu Maitryi in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Balu Maitryi in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Balu Maitryi in the 8th. In this current campaign Cruz is hitting at a .315 clip with 11 home runs and 21 RBIs. |
