Battery Earn Win with Late Rally
The bad news for the Long Island Lighthouse: an opening day loss, 6-5, to the Charleston Battery at The Lighthouse. The good news: it was just game one in a long season. No one played better than Chad Ware. He was 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI. The win went to Wesley Perkins in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Clancy Turner took the loss.

Ware had a game-changing double in the top of the tenth. On a first pitch fastball from Clancy Turner, he banged a 2-run double to left, giving the Battery a 6-4 lead. It was the 2nd double of the year for Ware.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Ware.
