The Detroit Rock City reigned over the Kingston Ponies in damp conditions.

Behind the hitting of Dustin Tate, the Detroit Rock City stopped the Kingston Ponies, 6-2. Tate was 3-4 with 3 doubles, while adding 3 RBI for the Rock City. Juan Sánchez recorded the save for Detroit, his 3rd of the season.

The Ponies had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Rock City going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the slugging first baseman Gareth Holz came to the plate. Holz hit a 3-run home run on a 1-0 sinker from Kingston hurler Edward Small. It was Holz's 2nd home run of the year.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Tate told the Detroit Observer.

The setback makes the Ponies 6-12.
