The Long Island Lighthouse topped the St. Louis Coeur, 12-6, at The BFIB. Long Island right fielder Duke Hoban was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2-6 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 and driving in 6. Robert Shafer got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits in 6.1 innings. Tommaso Cugnoni was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
The Lighthouse got a gift in the top of the seventh inning, when they were leading 5-4. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Edward Blakemore reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. It made the score 6-4, Long Island.
"I like our mindset right now," said Long Island manager Michael Esposito.
The win gives Long Island a record of 11-8.
