Billy Goats Win Thriller, 3-1
|
The Colorado Billy Goats, despite a fine performance by Echo Park pitcher Bernardo Cruz, grabbed a 3-1 win at Grazing Hills. Cruz allowed 1 run over 6.2 innings. The win was credited to 30-year old right-handed pitcher Kazushi Maeda in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Alan Sanderson took the loss. The Billy Goats have hit the ground running, raising their record to 14-7. While it's still too soon to talk about Colorado hoisting their 1st Menard's Third League Championship trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
Andy Gould played the role of hero for Colorado. In the bottom of the ninth, he launched a 2-run home run off Alan Sanderson to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was the decisive blow.
"Put a star next to this win," Gould said.
