Elite Lose By a Run at Nova Scotia, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Nova Scotia Leviathan and the Detroit Elite, pitcher Stewart Telfer was the difference between victory and defeat. The Nova Scotia right-hander earned accolades in the 2-1 Leviathan win. In 6 innings, Telfer surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Everton Stirzacre closed the door for Nova Scotia, picking up his 3rd save of the year.
With runs few and far between, the Leviathan had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Nova Scotia came in the bottom of the second inning, when catcher Pedro Costa delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off José Martínez and made the score 2-1, Leviathan. Costa went 1-3.
"We did just enough to win," Costa said.
