Pride Take Tight Tilt

The Hartford Pride put one in the win column with an opening day 3-2 triumph over the Vermont Lake Monsters. The crowd at Pride Park watched Anthony Hines put on a fine performance. Hines, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Ernan Rillera, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Scott Wright helped out the Hartford cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-2 with 2 walks.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Vermont skipper Alfonso Núñez, "and it cost us."
