Palangan Extends Hit Streak to 20 Games

The hitting streak for Salt Lake City first baseman Melchor Palangan now stands at 20 games, but the Buzz dropped today's contest 8-7 to the Ft. Myers Marlins. Palangan went 2-for-5 in the game.
"Things went well for me personally," he said. "I got 2 hits and the streak keeps going. But we didn't win the game."
Melchor Palangan grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
On the year, Palangan is hitting .407 with 22 hits, 3 home runs, 15 RBIs, .443 OBP and has scored 9 runs.

Buzz Vroom Calling it Quits

The rumors are true: Salt Lake City reliever Iwan Vroom is calling it quits at the end of the year.

Dodos Dotson Gone for Year

The season is apparently over for Ricky Dotson. The Hialeah Dodos medical staff informed the club that the starting pitcher will be out at least 7 months with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. Dotson was hurt in the game against Hudson Bay while throwing a pitch. The doctors did not think he would recover prior to the end of the season.
