Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Port Royal Disaster were eager to watch Jeremiah Cole square off against Hunter Kirkland of the visiting Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys. In the end, the Squirrel Monkeys won the game, 9-6, with Hunter Kirkland leading the way. Ronald Love finished to wrap up his 1st save.

Naomichi Kodo, the 27-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Kodo contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put Syracuse up, 6-3.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Kodo said after the game.
