Dogfish Head Rally Late to Nip Redwoods
|
The Milton Dogfish Head locked up a win at Milton Corner Tavern, knocking off the Hudson Bay Redwoods, 2-1. On the mound for Milton was right-hander Junior Smith. He played a major role in the triumph. Milton, now 2-0, is setting the league on fire so far.
Had Eddie Jones not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Jones hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Dogfish Head.
Jones told a Milton Daily News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
