Starting pitcher Vic Lee pitched well enough to help the Florida Men beat the Hamilton Thunderbirds, 6-3. Lee picked up the win for Florida, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 9 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Tom Evans collected his 2nd save.
Florida used a clutch at-bat from José Díaz to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Men ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Díaz. "The only team that can beat us is us."
The loss drops Hamilton to 0-2.
