Tight Tilt Goes to Marlins, 4-3
|
Ft. Myers beat Sacramento on the strength of starter Luke Robb's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Robb, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. The save went to Victor Jones, number 2 for him.
The Marlins got an important contribution from center fielder Erik Willard, who in the bottom of the second knocked a 0-2 fastball into right-center for a run-scoring triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Marlins ahead, 4-0.
After the game, Ft. Myers manager Chua-kah Liu applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The win gives Ft. Myers a record of 3-1.
