Marlins Win at Monongahela, 5-1
|
The Ft. Myers Marlins knocked off the Monongahela Monsters, 5-1, in M3L Triple A action at Timber Hawks Ballpark. Ft. Myers pitcher and Tulare, California, native Dan Clark had an outstanding performance. Clark, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks. Rob Anderson earned the save for Ft. Myers, his 1st.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ludwig Hofler? The Ft. Myers right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Marlins on top, 3-0. For the game, Hofler had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Said losing manager Sancho Tornero: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
Monongahela is now 2-2.
