The Salt Lake City Buzz had to overcome a big game from Florida first baseman Luis Luttazi to leave Spirits Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 8-4. Luttazi was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI. The win was credited to Felipe Hull in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Júlio Ramírez took the loss. With the loss, Florida falls to 4-1.

Salt Lake City designated hitter Rubén López helped the Buzz go up, 5-3, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, López hit a 2-run single off Florida pitcher Jim Bird.

"We didn't play well enough to win," Florida skipper Caetano Alfena said.
