In a low-scoring contest between the Port Royal Disaster and the Hamilton Thunderbirds, Lawrence Tate was the X factor. The Port Royal right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. The win lifts Port Royal to a record of 1-7.

Tate, who was born in Long Beach, California, threw 94 pitches over 7 innings, while allowing no runs.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Hamilton skipper Jesús Garces.
