Thunderbirds Handle Austin, Snag 3-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Hamilton Thunderbirds and the Austin Black Mambas, pitcher Akihito Ishikawa was the difference between victory and defeat. The Hamilton right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Thunderbirds win. Brian Pinkman picked up the save for Hamilton, his 2nd of the year. The win leaves Hamilton with a record of 2-6.
Hamilton used the timely hitting of Ray Sloan to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Thunderbirds manager Miguel Uribe, "I like our chances."
