Sunset District got a valiant performance from pitcher Gary Baxter, but it wasn't enough to beat the Hialeah Dodos. Hialeah won the game, 2-1. Baxter threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Hialeah reliever Ric Nelson was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-1. Teddy Harvey took the loss for Sunset District. Hialeah has a record of 4-4.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 31-year old shortstop John Robinson had a chance to be the hero. Sunset District pitcher Teddy Harvey wanted to foil that plan. But with no outs, Robinson hit a sacrifice fly. The Dodos had themselves a thrilling win.

"The crowd was raucous," said Robinson.
