Beat Goes On for Pajaritos, Win 2-1 Over Marlins
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Norfolk Pajaritos and the Ft. Myers Marlins, 23-year old left-handed pitcher Adrian Goff was the difference-maker. The Norfolk left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Goff, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Louis Bainbridge closed out the game, earning his 3rd save.
It could have been a different outcome for Norfolk, had it not been for Ronald McKenzie, the 23-year old catcher . McKenzie contributed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Norfolk up, 2-0.
"The guys are feeling pretty good about where they're at right now," said Pajaritos manager Vincent Cruz. "We have a lot of guys playing with confidence."
The win has Norfolk at 8-0.
