Disaster Win at Austin, 3-1
|
The Port Royal Disaster had to overcome a good performance from Austin pitcher Curt Stokes to claim a 3-1 win at Mamba Park. Stokes went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Andrew MacEwen, the winner, goes to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts over 6 innings. Robert Brewer earned the save, his 3rd, for the Disaster.
Port Royal used the clutch hitting of Tom Hancock to capture the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Disaster ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
Hancock called the triumph "a good team win."
The loss has the Black Mambas at 3-7.
