The Port Royal Disaster took Port Huron pitcher Brandon Mitchell's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Port Huron Park. The final score had Port Royal getting past the Blitzkrieg, 6-4. Mitchell went 7.2 innings and allowed 5 runs, striking out 5. Bobby Vaughn snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 3 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. The win gives the Disaster a record of 5-5.
Port Royal used a timely hit from Kane Tucker to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Disaster ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
Said Port Huron manager Mike Nyberg: "They just got the better of us."
