Thunderbirds Come Back Late to Top Pride, 5-2
|
Hartford got a big-time effort from pitcher Rich Baker, but it wasn't enough to keep the Hamilton Thunderbirds from winning the game, 5-2. Baker threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Hamilton reliever Sam Malone picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Glenn Patterson absorbed the loss. Dillon Khassanov picked up the save for Hamilton, his 3rd of the year.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Bob Wright came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Hartford pitcher Glenn Patterson, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hamilton on top, 3-2.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Wright. "Just do my job."
Hamilton is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 4th win in 12 games.
