The Nashville Hot Chickens beat the Hudson Bay Redwoods, 4-3. Nashville pitcher and Douglasville, Georgia, native Michael Sheppard led the way. Sheppard, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 4 walks. Clint Clifton earned his 5th save, after closing out the game.

Nashville used a well-timed hit by Carlos MacKnight to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the third inning to put the Hot Chickens ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
