Pawnee got a terrific game from left fielder Pancho Zamora. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Norfolk, 8-7. Zamora was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Lorenzo García in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Joe Burkett took the loss. The win gives the Pajaritos a record of 12-3.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 7-7, 26-year old shortstop Bill Lawler won it for Norfolk. With a runner on 2nd, Lawler hit a first pitch slider from Joe Burkett for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 8-7 win.

"It's not about individual awards," Lawler told a Norfolk Chronicle reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
