Thanks in large part to catcher Luis Hernández, the Pawnee ParksNRec beat the Hamilton Thunderbirds, 8-6. Hernández went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Reliever Eduardo Soto picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Claude Simon took the loss. Picking up the save was Carlton Taylor, his 1st.
Pawnee relied on the hitting of Terry Brown to pick up the win. The designated hitter ripped a bases-clearing triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the ParksNRec on top, 7-1. For the game, Brown had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I felt good up there," said Brown. "I saw the ball well."
The Thunderbirds fall to 7-9 and continue to sputter in the early going.
