Lake Monsters Pick Up 3-0 Win Against Hialeah
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters reigned over the Hialeah Dodos in damp conditions.
In a low-scoring contest, Vermont pitcher Francisco Colón was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-0 win. Colón yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 4-0. Howard Moore closed it out for Vermont, earning his 4th save.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Lake Monsters had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when right fielder Sidney Ames hit a 2-run single. The single came off George Butler and made the score 3-0, Lake Monsters. Ames was 1-3 with a hit by pitch, while adding 2 RBI.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Ames.
Vermont goes to 7-11.
