Vermont defeated Ft. Myers, 7-6, in large part due to 26-year old right fielder Freddy Vázquez. Vázquez drove in 4 runs. The right fielder had 1 double and 1 home run for the Lake Monsters. Vermont pitcher Dave Jones earned the win, hiking his record to 3-1. Pablo Jiménez suffered the loss. With the win, Vermont goes to 10-12, while the Marlins fall to 10-12.

Vázquez put Vermont up, 6-0, when he hit a 3-run home run off Pablo Jiménez in the top of the fourth. His 3rd home run of the season helped the Lake Monsters capture the win.

"That's a solid team effort right there," said Vázquez. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
