Blitzkrieg Prevail, 2-1, Over Hamilton
|
The Port Huron Blitzkrieg faced a tough opponent in Hamilton pitcher Claude Simon, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Port Huron Park by a final score of 2-1. Simon went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. The winner in relief was Luis Montáñez. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 1-2. Mark Peterson wrapped it up, recording his 5th save.
The Blitzkrieg got a big at-bat from center fielder Bill Clapsaddle. For the game, Clapsaddle was 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Port Huron a 2-1 lead.
Port Huron manager Mike Nyberg called it "a pretty good win."
