The Austin Black Mambas defeated the Monongahela Monsters, 17-6, at Timber Hawks Ballpark. Austin right fielder Jerome Woodard had a superb performance. He went 3 for 5 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Austin reliever Yan Velthuizen picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Richard Miller was tagged with the loss. The setback makes Monongahela 21-9.

Palmer Kent hit a run-scoring triple off Carlos Vázquez in the top of the fifth, which put the Black Mambas in front, 3-2. Kent had 1 single and 1 walk, in addition to the three-bagger. For the game, he went 2 for 6.

"That's what this team is about," said Kent, "picking each other up."
