Men Lose, 5-2, as Squirrel Monkeys Rally
|
The Squirrel Monkeys grabbed a win, 5-2, at The Zoo in Syracuse, overcoming a fine effort from Florida pitcher Júlio Moya. Moya went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Yefim Vistunov came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 3-0. The save went to Larry Pulsifer, number 1 for him.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Daniel Pollock came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Florida pitcher José Ramos, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Syracuse on top, 3-2.
"Winning never gets dull," said Pollock.
The 4th-place Squirrel Monkeys now sit at 19-14.
