Marlins Handle Sunset District, Snag 6-5 Win
|
The Ft. Myers Marlins beat the Sunset District Fog, 6-5, at League Park. Tracy Copeland starred for Ft. Myers. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Ft. Myers pitcher Logan Bowen got the win. He's now 1-2. Stephen Jones was tagged with the loss. Fernando López was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
One of the key players for the Marlins was left fielder Brent Durand, who drilled a run-scoring single in the bottom of the second inning. For the game, Durand was 1 for 3.
"They beat us fair and square," Sunset District skipper Brady Bess said.
By defeating Sunset District, the 7th-place Marlins improved to 17-19.
