Hamilton pitcher Casper Trout had a large part in his team beating the Vermont Lake Monsters, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Trout got the win, improving to 2-2. He gave up 8 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Hong-bo Liu earned the save for Hamilton, his 1st of the year.

Had Terry Edwards not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Edwards hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Thunderbirds.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Trout said after the game.

The win gives the Thunderbirds a record of 10-30.
