Tillman Slugs Thunderbirds to 4-2 Win
|
The Hamilton Thunderbirds defeated the Salt Lake City Buzz, 4-2. Doing his part was third baseman Phil Tillman, who hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Martin Roach earned the win for Hamilton. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 10 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 3-3. Getting the save was Sam Malone, his 2nd.
Tillman had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Ernesto Valdéz, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Thunderbirds a 3-2 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Tillman.
"I was making good contact tonight," said Tillman.
Hamilton, with the win, sits at 13-27.
