The Hamilton Thunderbirds overcame a good performance by Vermont third baseman Barnes Rooks to knock off Vermont, 8-7, at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. Rooks went 4-4 with 3 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win has Hamilton at 16-27.

Timo van de Par was the walk-off hero for Hamilton. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Thunderbirds pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," van de Par said. "We did a good job of that today."
