The Plymouth Rocks knocked off the Port Huron Blitzkrieg, 11-3, in M3L Triple A action at Port Huron Park. Plymouth pitcher and Albany, California, native Ron Harris had an outstanding performance. The winner was Harris. He threw 8.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Luke Corner. By defeating Port Huron, the 4th-place Rocks improved to 24-21.
Porter Howell had a big 3-run home run for the Rocks in the top of the sixth inning. With Plymouth leading 4-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a cutter from 40-year old right-handed pitcher Luke Corner and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Rocks on top, 7-1.
"It was a tough day, no getting around it," said losing manager Mike Nyberg.
