The Syracuse Starks stormed past the Tortolita Drummers, 12-2, at Stark Stadium. Syracuse third basemanEldon Church led the hit parade. He was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Syracuse sits at 7-6 in the early going.

With Syracuse leading 3-0 in the bottom of the third, Church hit a fastball from Manuel Villalobos for a bases-clearing double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Starks ahead, 6-0.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Syracuse manager Homer Robertson.
