Both teams had their chances, but the Salt Lake City Buzz eventually prevailed.

The Salt Lake City Buzz trumped the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 8-7, at Crane Field. Salt Lake City right fielder Tony Parra was terrific. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Salt Lake City reliever Manny Guerra picked up the win to move to 2-0. Li-zhi Lai suffered the loss. Getting the save was Eldon Williams, his 2nd.

Salt Lake City used a timely hit from Juan Martínez to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Buzz ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Martínez. "Just do my job."

After today's action, Salt Lake City sits at 23-23, while Santa Barbara falls to 26-20.
