With Late Score, Marlins Beat Fog
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Ft. Myers Marlins and the Sunset District Fog, Howard Campbell was the X factor. The Ft. Myers left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Fernando López closed it out for Ft. Myers, earning his 7th save. The loss makes Sunset District 26-30.
Had Gerald Stufi not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Stufi hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Marlins.
"Tough loss," said Sunset District manager Brady Bess. "Tough one to swallow."
