Sacramento and Syracuse got after it at Sacramento Sanitation Station.

The Sacramento Redlegs picked up a win at Sacramento Sanitation Station, downing the Syracuse Starks, 7-0. On the mound for Sacramento was right-hander Steve Kidd, who played a pivotal role in the win. The loss puts Syracuse at 10-7.

Manny Marrero had a big solo home run for the Redlegs in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Sacramento leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 31-year old right-handed pitcher Jorge Vázquez and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Redlegs on top, 2-0.

"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Sacramento manager Luis Ríos.
