Vermont pitcher Bennett Dodd did his part in helping his team defeat the Port Royal Disaster, 5-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Dodd, now 7-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Olaf Blees closed it out for Vermont, earning his 1st save.
Vermont center fielder Miguel Mora contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 30th hit of the season and put the Lake Monsters ahead, 5-0.
Said Vermont manager Alfonso Núñez: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
The 9th-place Lake Monsters improved to 28-33.
