The Austin Black Mambas got a stellar performance from pitcher Curt Stokes, who handcuffed the Jersey City offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Jersey City Grounds. The win makes Austin 27-35.

Ron Stevenson hit a 2-run triple off Homer Mathis in the top of the fifth, which put the Black Mambas in front, 2-1. Stevenson had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Stevenson told the Austin News.
