Port Royal Absorbs 7-4 Loss to Vermont
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters topped the Port Royal Disaster, 7-4, at Monster Field. Vermont left fielder Richard Burton was a spark plug for the offense. He was 1 for 1 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Howard Moore, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. With the win, Vermont has a record of 29-33. Port Royal falls to 24-38.
Burton had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a full count cutter from Ron Woods, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Lake Monsters a 5-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Burton.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Port Royal manager . "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
