Golden Cranes Beat Marlins, 2-1
|
Santa Barbara Golden Cranes starter Ed Jenkins turned in an exceptional performance against the Ft. Myers Marlins at Crane Field, resulting in a Santa Barbara win, 2-1. Jenkins got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. Jenkins allowed 1 run. Jeffrey Wilson earned the save for Santa Barbara, his 1st of the year.
In the bottom of the sixth, Santa Barbara right fielder Lucas Lerwill put his team on top. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit his 4th double of the year. Ft. Myers pitcher Bob Porter served it up. Just like that, the Golden Cranes were ahead, 2-1.
"You don't always need a lot of runs to win," said Jenkins. "Sometimes you need just one or two."
The third-place Golden Cranes improved to 37-26.
