Monongahela 38-25 After Beating Fighting Dachshunds
|
Timber Hawks Ballpark was the site of a tense game between the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds and Monongahela Monsters.
In a tight tilt between the Monongahela Monsters and the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds, Luis Romero was the deciding factor. The Monongahela right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Jack Herer, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 15th save.
The Fighting Dachshunds had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Monsters going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 32-year old left fielder Brenton Hale came to the plate. Hale hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 knuckle curve from Ellenburg hurler Hang-ki Cong. It was Hale's 1st home run of the year.
Romero called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
After today's action, Monongahela sits at 38-25, while Ellenburg falls to 39-24.
