Disaster, Vargas Pin Bad Loss on Blitzkrieg
The Port Royal Disaster handed the Port Huron Blitzkrieg a sound defeat, 15-1, at Port Huron Park. Valentín Vargas was a main contributor to the win. He was 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 and driving in 7 for Port Royal. Lawrence Tate got the win, improving to 6-6. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 3 hits and no runs, while striking out 3 and walking 4. Picking up the save was 30-year old right-handed pitcher Tim Day.

Vargas made an early impact for Port Royal when he stroked his 16th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which came in the top of the first, put the Disaster on top, 4-0.

"Nice win for us," said Vargas. "Now we'll go after the next one."

At 28-38, Port Royal is in 10th place in the Menard's AAA.
