The inspired effort of Hudson Bay third baseman Ted Garrett was not enough to prevent a loss, 4-1, to the Florida Men. Garrett went 4 for 5 with 4 singles. The winner was Joe Sheffield in relief. His record improves to 2-4. Amur Bandele took the loss. The Men improved their record to 30-38 with the win over Hudson Bay.

The Men got an important contribution from third baseman Jerome Miller, who in the bottom of the fifth knocked a 1-0 cutter to right for a solo home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Men ahead, 3-1.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Miller told a Florida Bulletin reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
