Lake Monsters Victorious at Salt Lake City, 8-7
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters had to overcome a big game from Salt Lake City left fielder Álex Torres to leave Spirits Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 8-7. Torres was 1-2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win went to Chris MacIntyre in relief, making him now 3-0. Iwan Vroom took the loss for Salt Lake City. Lu Tan, credited with the save, is now 10 for 12 in save opportunities.
The Lake Monsters got a big hit from designated hitter Keith Anthony. In the top of the sixth, Anthony smacked a 2-run double off Salt Lake City pitcher Grady Booth. It was his 12th double of the season. Suddenly, the Lake Monsters were ahead, 8-7.
Anthony told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
Vermont occupies 6th place in the Menard's AAA at 35-33.
