Blitzkrieg Get Hard-Earned Win
|
Port Huron turned a good effort from starter Mario Gómez into a win over the Nashville Hot Chickens at Port Huron Park. The Blitzkrieg won the game, 3-2. Port Huron reliever Javier Dávila was credited with the win. His record goes to 3-7. Caleb Bullock took the loss for Nashville. Earning his 4th save for Port Huron was Raúl Santos.
Had Roy Hewat not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Hewat hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Blitzkrieg.
"Mario went out and did what we needed," said Port Huron manager Mike Nyberg.
The Blitzkrieg move to 29-40 with the win, while the Hot Chickens drop to 35-34.
