The Salt Lake City Buzz withstood a fine game by Vermont second baseman Nikolaj Molnar at Spirits Stadium, to upend the Lake Monsters, 5-4. Molnar went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Ben Griffin, who threw 98 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits. The 6th-place Buzz lifted their record to 35-34.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Brad Whitehead had a game-changing hit. The Buzz left fielder slammed a run-scoring single off Sebastian Mawle, making the score 5-3, Salt Lake City.

"We found a way to get it done," Whitehead said.
