Buzz Bridle Monsters, 4-3
|
Though he had a terrific game, Mark King could not prevent his team, the Monongahela Monsters, from absorbing a loss. Salt Lake City won the game, 4-3. King went 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win was credited to 33-year old right-handed pitcher José Cantú in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Luis Romero took the loss. Frank Smith earned save number 13 this season.
Dewitt Chambers had a direct impact on the outcome. Chambers contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to put Salt Lake City up, 2-0.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Buzz manager Cody Jaeckel.
The victory gives Salt Lake City a record of 38-33.
